This workshop is aimed at those pursuing, or planning to pursue, doctoral research relating to the Environmental Humanities at postdoctoral level or early career researchers working in this space. It seeks to build community among early career researchers and to facilitate discussion of the challenges and opportunities of research in the Environmental Humanities.
The workshop will consist of a networking event and a panel discussion chaired by IHA working group co-chairs Associate Professor Marc Caball (UCD) and Dr Leah O’Hearn (MU).
Networking event:
Participants will be invited upon registration on the day to select three key areas of interest from the following themes: animals; landscapes; eco-feminism; environmental history; senses; decolonial ecologies; political ecology; language and culture; hope; communication and storytelling; eco-criticism; arts and creative practice. Organisers will then divide participants into groups according to these selections in order to allow participants to meet others working in their subfield.
Panel discussion
Michael Cronin (TCD)
Maureen O'Connor (UCC)
Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to raise questions, ideas and discussion points. A refreshment break will provide further time to meet others working in this field.
